Freight ferry services operate from Cuxhaven to the UK. There are also regular services from Kiel to both Oslo and Gothenburg, frequent departures linking Puttgarden with Rodby (Denmark) and from Rostock to Gedser (Denmark). Rostock also sees a regular service to Trelleborg (Sweden) and to Helsinki. Trelleborg is connected with both Travemünde and Sassnitz whilst Sassnitz also has a connection to Ronne (Bornholm). Longer crossings operate across the Baltic Sea to Latvia and Finland.
